We Don’t See Eye to Eye
The policeman’s objective was to try and empathize with an individual whose experience matched his son’s. The cop would go on to enlighten William as to his son’s performance during his tour. Jazwinski now had a fresh perspective of the situation. But would there be a limit to the policeman’s questions? It was not like they were discussing the weather. This was a highly sensitive subject, one that William was not completely comfortable with discussing.
Emotionally Charged
Jazwinski finally felt a sense of clarity. The two were now finally starting to connect. But William was hesitant to fulfill all the police officer’s needs, as he would need to relive some troubling experiences to fill out his story. Regardless, William was fresh out of PTSD therapy, meaning that candidly discussing his wartime memories felt rather raw. Perhaps the police officer should have practiced a bit more sensitivity, realizing that this veteran may not have wanted to go to some places.
