Personal Reasons
Jazwinski was under the impression that the policeman was fixated on his tour, unaware as to why the policeman would stop his daily proceedings. The policeman was personally invested in this situation. William knew that there were many people out there that were very interested in the idea of military service, and he would often encounter eager potential recruits that wanted to know all about life in the army. Was this policeman one of these types?
A Father’s Duty
The policeman finally confessed to Jazwinski that his own son had mirrored the young man’s experience in Iraq. This was exactly why the policeman had stopped William in the first place. This older gentleman did not have any strange or curious reasons for interrogating William about his service. It was a deeply emotional and personal reason, and despite having stopped and interrogated William in quite an unconventional manner, he had his reasons for doing so.
