To begin, William was overcome with suspicion regarding the strange situation. It was obvious that this wasn’t an ordinary police procedure to interrogate an individual regarding their military career. This was all beyond the sphere of normal police work and activity, and the officer had no reason or right to keep William. Many people would have simply asked if they were free to go, and sped off without delay to get back to what they were busy with. Would William humor him?

Finally, William would detail his military service for the policeman as a high-capacity vehicle driver who was fresh off the plane from a nation within the Middle East. William had pleasantly adjusted to life back in the peaceful world, happy to be free of danger and the threats of warfare.
