Dry Eyes
Joel revealed that he was not committed to unearthing his actual dad, at all. He was happy not knowing who this man was, who as far as Joel was concerned, was just a stranger that had nothing to do with him. Further, his relationship with his mother was untouched by all of this, who he would love and support, no matter what. This did not affect him due to his father having been out of his life for some time.
Convincing Folks
Joel was simply completely unemotional. He had no interest in knowing who his real father, even if his mom would tell him. Although Joel and Richard had not communicated in a long time, Joel insisted that their relationship was fine. This was in glaring contrast to all of Richard’s emotive laments, where he claimed that he was being made to feel like the villain. With all the different storylines being expressed, where was the truth in the matter?
