Putting Together A Raft Out Of Ice Chests
Around 10 in the morning, when the boat capsized, the lads used Le’s bandana to lash together two ice chests in order to fashion a makeshift raft. When asked why he usually wore a bandana when he went fishing, Le said, “You know, I constantly lose my hat, so I always wear a bandana. Every time.” In each of the ice chests, there were several different types of beverages along with some fruit. Le said that the goal was to swim to the oil rig, move the raft closer to it, and then locate a phone so that they could call for rescue. Even though they were in the middle of the broad ocean, darkness descended on them. Nguyen shared that it is a “really scary phenomenon.” “Thank heavens there was a full moon in the sky, so we had light. We simply drifted all night.”
Attacked By Sharks
When the lads were out in the water, they were attacked by sharks, and they had to defend themselves. One of them attempted to consume their life jacket. Nguyen said, “I tried to push him off, but it didn’t work. So I jabbed him in the eye because it wouldn’t go away.” “With your hand?” asks Hoda Kotb, the host of an NBC show. Nguyen turned his fists sideways and said, “My fingers.” “I stuck my fingers in its eyes, and ran away. I got a few scars, but you know,” he said.
