First Conversation
Even though he had met Myers in the past, the two of them never truly communicated with one another. On one occasion, Swallwell made the decision to issue a citation to Myers; however, much to Swallwell’s astonishment, Myers did not have any form of identification on him.
He questioned Myers, and shortly after, the two of them were deep in discussion about his life story, including his younger days and the circumstances that had led to him becoming homeless. Swalwell stated that he as an elderly man shouldn’t be on the streets, but because Myers did not have identification, he was ineligible for social security or assistance.
Heaven-Sent
Because Myers lacked the necessary documentation, he was unable to acquire a new identification card. In addition, he did not have identification, which prevented him from receiving assistance from the government. This caused Swalwell a great deal of heartache, and as a result, he made a solemn vow to Myers that he would do all in his ability to get Myers off the street.
Because of this, Myers felt his spirits lift, and he was really appreciative that someone was there to assist him.
