Chris understands that not all students will do well, as some will eventually struggle to cope. He also accepts that being a teacher is not the easiest job, and that children can really test one’s patience. But keeping your cool while working with dozens of little people is one of the biggest skills that a teacher can possess. It is the negative response that bothers him the most. Learning is a step-by-step process and one of the most valuable aspects of life. After all, it is what one learns that determines how they go about each day. Learning new abilities, skills, and how to complete various tasks to function in life is critical. If a child is told that they are ‘pathetic’, then they could easily believe that. The things that kids are told to their faces, and in their work in the form of comments, go straight to their hearts.
