When Lydia eventually found out the truth of her ghost of a father, she became incredibly resentful of him.

The Missing Guardian
Raising a child on your own is an incredibly challenging and stressful process, and Lydia felt like she was in a daily struggle with her mother being her only ally. Paying for school fees was no small effort for Sara, who was forced to take up a couple of jobs to put her child through school and put food on the table at the same time. Lydia would need to help out too, and would get a job as soon as she was old enough to do so, dedicating her free time to working.
