If Lydia had to be honest with herself, she had become an alcoholic. Whenever she felt even a tinge of misery, she would pick up the wine glass and drown her sorrows. Much time had passed since her mother had, and she was nursing many of her insecurities and negative feelings beyond the tragic passing with a bottle. She was starting to feel the hormones come on strongly thanks to her pregnancy, and when combined with the alcohol, she was beginning to spin out of control.

Lydia found that her life was becoming almost unmanageable as everything became too difficult to. These were the hardest months in Lydia’s young life and she was on the brink of giving up on it all. But then there was the pregnancy, and a new and unexpected light began shining in Lydia and John’s lives. She could now focus all her love and attention on the baby and the need to drink began weighing less intensely on her mind.
