The couple wished to dedicate themselves to their local society within Mississippi as well. Their place as missionaries inspired them to work harder for their purposes. Aaron was employed at the time by Yazoo City’s Second Presbyterian, where he worked as a youth director and intern. The couple commenced looking more at adoption. In an interview with the Washington Post, Aaron commented that “We see the protection of children not as charity, nor as part of a political agenda, but as something near to the heart of God.”

Getting Everything Together

The dearly in love pair still longed to return to Honduras for a period. Rachel and Aaron maintained that the society there was in need. They then joined a Presbyterian Church of America mission, simultaneously trying to bring a child into the world while touring adoption agencies. It was in a Mississippi agency where they spent a day learning more about the whole process. It was clear that they were committed to beginning a family properly.
