A Formal Statement Is Issued
The following Monday, the school had no choice but to put out a formal statement to all parents about the incident. The school district spokesperson was called to comment on the matter, reminding everyone that it was never the intention of the school administration or staff to embarrass or isolate any of their students through the use of the stamp system.

The statement also said that students had always been given a choice between whether they wanted the stamp, or if a reminder letter was preferred. In a bid to avoid any confusion or a recurrence of the event, Desert Cove Elementary School pledged to only send letters home when the balance of the accounts started running low.
