When a hive loses its queen, the bees become very angry and destructive. This hive appeared to be the exception to the rule and all the bees were calm and non-aggressive towards David.

Normally, a hive consists of many smaller honeycombs broken up throughout the hive but this hive was made up of two very large honeycombs.

As this was very unusual, David got even more excited by what these bees had achieved. As he continued to examine the hive he found even more unique features.
