We’ve heard of a wrench in the works, which means something going wrong, but this is ridiculous. We’re not sure exactly what happened here, but this wrench has burst through the tire.

We can only assume a mechanic left it in by accident. When they went to pump the tire up, the pressure must have pushed it through into the spokes. This is certainly a costly mistake, and one somebody will have to pay for.
