Richard was desperate to find out what Kate might have to tell him. While typing a message to her on his phone in a complete rage, Richard expected Kate to tell him everything as he revealed to her his painful medical discovery. The two had enjoyed little contact outside of the divorce settling procedure, and Richard’s emotional outburst had come out of the blue. Given how coldly Kate had handled the divorce, was Richard expecting mercy from his former wife?

Richard’s message didn’t spare any details. The man was at a point where he did not care for sensitivity or pleasantries. He wrote of how the doctors had never encountered a man with cystic fibrosis with the ability to conceive, not counting three children. The likelihood of Richard not being the boys’ biological father was 98%. Despite the alarming nature of the message, Kate was slow to respond. It seemed that she was taking her time to form an appropriate response.
