Certain species of fish may be found in the water of the Everglades that can be dangerous to humans. If swimmers are wearing something visually appealing — like jewelry — they may be drawn to them in some instances. This may lead to the fish mistaking the presence of prey in the water for the existence of prey. On the other hand, Marlins pose a more significant threat to fishers in the vicinity.

Attacks from below the surface of the sea may sometimes take you entirely by surprise. For example, while the needlefish appears to be a small and inconspicuous creature – typically measuring around a foot in length and weighing less than a pound – its razor-sharp mouth poses a severe threat to humans. Furthermore, even though this species is not renowned as a human predator, it is capable of inflicting harm.
