Whether a person has embarked on a hunting expedition, or is on a safari tour, trail cams are essential for capturing these experiences with intimate detail. Such trail cams are so advanced that they can provide a detailed overview of an animal’s behavior and location. They are equipped with motion detection technology, allowing us to close in on an animal through their tracks. This is how the modern hunter or conservationist can follow animals in the wild around, without actually being there. While most of these events are quite ordinary, there are rare moments of natural beauty and wonder that trail cams will record.
He Brought The Beer
It looks like this deer saved whatever party he was attending by bringing a barrel of what probably is not beer, but we cannot help but think of the party-saving hero that brings a keg of the good stuff! It seems like this deer accidentally scooped the barrel up. Regardless of how he managed to get the drum stuck in his antlers, he seems to be quite proud of the feat. Whatever is inside the barrel, it must be important to deer.

He Brought The Beer
Accessorizing
Tumbleweed can get pretty much anywhere in the world if the wind is kind enough to the wiry bush. When it ends up stuck in a youthful buck’s antlers, however, this is a rare destination indeed! There are many different strange places that tumbleweed can end up, but we would never have imagined that it would have perfectly drifted into a deer’s antlers. This buck does look fabulous with his new hairdo, don’t you think?

Accessorizing
Rushing For Lunch
As cute as this scene might seem to all of us sitting at home looking at it on our screens, you can imagine how horrifying it would be actually being in that forest that day! Whoever irritated this enormous creature might not have much time left on Earth, but hopefully, this giant Teddy Bear is just dashing to grab some honey from a nearby beehive. Despite this bear’s size and ferocity, you can bet that he can be incredibly stealthy when he wants to be.

Rushing For Lunch
The Legion
Now, this is a truly spooky vision of what are generally regarded as quite sweet and affable animals. What makes this scene even scarier is how all these deer as gazing into the camera! You might not want to take a stroll through this forest at night with these eerie creatures in it. Ever since films like The Blair Witch Project were released, people have had a far different opinion of forests in general, especially at night.

The Legion
Midnight Snack
When you think of an otter, you generally picture a cute little critter blissfully floating down a river, arm-in-arm with his partner. Not this vicious hunter, however, who was snapped fiercely scurrying off with his prey in his mouth! We all love a good midnight snack. Otters are carnivorous mammals whose diet mostly consists of fish. They are capable and speedy hunters that can snatch fish straight out of coursing river. We hope that this fellow enjoyed his fishy feast!

Midnight Snack
Death From Above
Ah, the elusive owl in all its glorious and deadly precision! While you might not see owls very often in nature, as they prefer to stay out of sight until the last minute, getting in the way of their hunting is a sure way to get overly acquainted with one. This deer was just doing his nightly grazing when a set of razor-sharp talons dug into the back of his neck! Stay clear of owl hunting ground, people.

Death From Above
Battle Birds
Simply capturing an eagle in flight, or even just relaxing while perched on a tree, takes a superiorly talented and skilled wildlife photographer. Amazingly, this magnificent display of the ferocity of eagles was captured without any human involvement! We would love to see the full video of this dramatic confrontation, where it seems like the eagle on the left seems to have the upper hand (or claw). Birds will fight over food just as much as any predator will.

Battle Birds
Nocturnal Ninja
Being a flying squirrel must be nothing short of bliss. The ability to soar above all the dangers and stresses of the ground below is a liberating sensation. We cannot help but feel like this squirrel targeted this gorgeous doe. There might not be any reason why a flying squirrel would need to target a deer. Maybe he was trying to hitch a ride? We feel sorry for deer, truly, as they seem to be the target of almost every other creature of the forest.

Nocturnal Ninja
Raccoon In The Headlights
We could not stop laughing the first time that we saw this nighttime snap. This adorably inquisitive raccoon suddenly popped into the frame of this trail cam. The camera seemed to be tracking the behavior of the local deer when this adorably fuzzy fellow decided to photobomb. Why should they get all the attention, anyway? Raccoons are just as fascinating and deserve their time in the limelight, too. Whoever owned this trail cam was in for one heartwarming surprise!

Raccoon In The Headlights
Enter My Lair
Foxes and raccoons are infamous enemies, often duking it out over territory and hunting ground. This fox bravely stepped into the lair of what seems to be the Lord of the Raccoons (at least in this forest), like some brave knight venturing to a ruined castle to battle the Dark Lord himself. Of course, the castle is an abandoned car from what seems to be decades ago, and the Dark Lord is a raccoon, but you never know how animals view a situation!

Enter My Lair
The Bandits’ Score
It seems like these adorable hoodlums just scored the motherload. Whatever that pile of stuff is that they seem so happy with, they have gorged themselves to the point that sleep and laziness have set in. If there are any predators are in the area, these raccoons could not care less. It could be catnip that has been dumped here for all we know, given how relaxed this gang seems. Either way, it was a good night for the raccoons!

The Bandits Score
Feeding Frenzy
Now, this is something that you do not often see in the wild: a mother fox feeding her kits. Don’t these adorable babies seem absolutely famished? It is interesting to see that this vixen feeds her offspring while standing, rather than lying down. Foxes will generally feed their young in the safety of their foxholes. Perhaps this family was in-between places and they had no choice but to have a nighttime snack out in the open.

Feeding Frenzy
Nature’s Uber
Did you know that many different animals love hitching rides on buffalo? The sturdy and agreeable titans do not seem to mind being used as taxis, it seems, perhaps even enjoying giving back to their communities. This trail cam spotted a queenly cat happily riding on the rump of a buffalo. Let’s hope that this kitty kept her claws to herself, as that is no way to repay anyone for such a kind and selfless service.

Natures Uber
Come At Me!
Coyotes have a bad reputation in both the wild and in human-populated areas. It seems like no one seems to like these scrappier relatives of wolves, not even the otherwise placid deer. Here we have a snarling and enraged coyote in attack mode, flanked by two deer that do not seem too fazed with his performance. How the rest of this confrontation played out is up for debate, but given how unbothered the deer seem, we hope that the situation was resolved peacefully.

Come At Me
Show’s Over
While trail cameras will often be left alone by the surrounding animals, being relatively unintrusive additions to their environments, this irritated woodpecker thought differently. The burrowing bird was snapped a millisecond before it pecked the camera’s lights out, for good. This was an expensive loss for whoever owned this costly piece of equipment, but at least they got this hilariously epic shot out of it. This nature watcher will think twice before setting another trail cam up in the area.

Shows Over
Dirty Camouflage
Tigers generally live in environments with sweltering climates, and love to cool off by taking a dip in the mud, just as many other animals do. They then carry this refreshing coating around with them to keep the intense heat at bay. Even with the muddy coating, this tiger still seems to be struggling with what seems to be a fiercely hot day in the wild. She also seems to be pregnant, and we are sure that the kittens appreciated the chillout session!

Dirty Camouflage
The Whole Hog
While buffaloes might be the preferred mode of transport for smaller animals, you can be assured that creatures as cheeky and daring as raccoons will try their luck with other types. Feral hogs can be incredibly aggressive, but this relaxed fellow was happy to piggyback his raccoon pal. Did you spot the other raccoon in the shot, who seems to be asking for a ride, too? Given how generous this hog is, we are sure he didn’t mind letting the other raccoon on, too.

The Whole Hog
Nocturnal Gathering
Here we have another sinister deer scene captured by a trail cam set up by a feeding station. It seems like a farmer was trying to establish just who was munching his livestock’s feed. He must have been amazed to find that a large herd of deer was making the most out of his generosity. He might have then decided that it was time for a spot of nighttime hunting. We really hope not, as this is a kind service to the forest creatures.

Nocturnal Gathering
The Getaway
Raccoons always seem to find themselves in trouble, taking all manner of liberties with their neighbors. Whatever this scamp did to offend a nearby coyote, he nearly paid a dear price for his interference. You wouldn’t think that a raccoon could outrun a coyote, but this stripy munchkin managed to reach his hideout in the nick of time. This bandit lived to tell the tale, and this trail cam will make his daring escape a viral treat for humanity.

The Getaway
Competition
Unfortunately for this next raccoon on our list, things did not pan out well for him. Automatic feeding stations might provide some much-needed chow for the surrounding wildlife, but this also leads to some fierce competition for snacks. This raccoon came out second-best when he tried to battle a stag for supper rights. We really hope that this raccoon made it out of this scrap without any serious injuries, and that he at least got a full tummy out of the fight.

Competition
Clown Attack
You might remember a particularly horrifying plague that struck humanity a few years ago, that of the killer clowns! This disturbing trail cam shot captured the last thing that you could hope to meet in a forest: a crazed clown. We have no idea why anyone would put on their clown outfit to go stalking through the woods during ungodly hours of the morning. If we saw this on our trail cam, we would strongly consider moving properties.

Clown Attack
A Bunny’s Fate
Nature is a cruel and unforgiving force that does not take pity on any creature, especially not adorable bunnies, who more often than not find themselves in the tummies of all manner of predators. Mountain lions are some of the most violent and capable hunters in their environments, but it seems like the trail camera did all the work for this big cat by distracting it with its light. This is an unlikely partnership between mountain lion and machine, but there we go.

A Bunnys Fate
I Adore You
Why don’t we take a break from nature’s scarier side and look at one of the more sentimental moments captured by a trail cam? These two deer are showing each other all the love in the world with a heartwarming grooming session. That, or these deer are into some seriously kinky stuff. We’ve seen plenty of couple Instagram selfies that look disturbingly close to this scene. Well, we are all just animals at the end of the day.

I Adore You
Feathery Fury
It seems that birds will battle over anything, including an especially comfortable fallen tree. Just how you might fight your siblings for the best spot on the couch, so too will birds for the best perching spot. We love how these eagles spread out their wings in such an imposing and intimidating fashion. Hopefully, these two managed to learn the value of sharing and decided that the log was big enough for the two of them.

Feathery Fury
David Versus Goliath
When you see a fight like this, you would generally back the little guy, right? That is unless you despise raccoons as so many Americans do. No matter how little affection you have for the stripy ‘trash pandas’, you cannot help but feel sorry for this poor soul in this picture. Being snacked on by an enormous boar is nothing short of nightmarish. In this wild version of David versus Goliath, David is unfortunately not going to make it through this altercation as the victor.

David Versus Goliath
Demonic Teddy Bear
No, this is not a bear cub, far from it! There seems to be some debate over what this creature is, but we seem to think that we are looking at a wolverine. This fellow decided to get a better look at the trail cam in question, standing up on his incredibly powerful legs to assess the situation properly. Wolverines are mostly scavengers in nature, and maybe this guy was trying to establish whether there was anything in it for him.

Demonic Teddy Bear
Definitely A Naughty Boy
Not everyone has the same appreciation for Christmas. For some, the cheery period is little more than an inconvenience, and this Santa should have thought better than to try and bring presents to this forest’s creatures! We do not know why anyone would put a Santa Clause figurine in front of a trail cam, unless it is made out of something tasty that bears love. Either way, this Santa figurine is about to get munched.

Definitely A Naughty Boy
War Moose
When you think of moose, you generally imagine a rather placid and giant calmly munching on grass on some peaceful hill. This trail cam exposure shows a completely different side to the enormous New World deer that is quite frightening! This looks more like some monster straight out of Mordor than a herbivorous grazer. All that this guy is missing is an orc riding on his back! The red horns and glowing eyes are truly sinister.

War Moose
There Ain’t No Party Like A Raccoon Party
We really need to take our hats off to raccoons. They somehow manage to make the most out of any situation, and if you happen to leave a birdfeeder hanging anywhere near a crew of the miscreants, you can be sure that they will vandalize it. The most acrobatic member of this gang managed to jump onto the birdfeeder, causing its contents to spill out everywhere. Whoever installed this trail cam now knows full well who has been attacking their birdfeeder!

There Aint No Party Like A Raccoon Party
The Matrix
It seems like this deer thought that the trail cam in front of it was about to shoot, seeing as it dodged dramatically out of the way like Neo from The Matrix. Being a deer is no easy existence. Almost everything around you wants to eat you, and humans adore hunting you with guns. This means that you will need to always keep on your toes (or hooves) and be ready for some intense evasive maneuvers.

The Matrix
Furry UFO
What is it with flying squirrels and terrorizing those around them? We honestly thought of them as unintrusive and furtive creatures that prefer to keep out of everyone’s way. Not this guy, however, who seems to have used his flying abilities for evil. Here we see him chasing off a nosey deer who wanted to munch on his prized apple collection. Not tonight, Bambi! You will need to find your own sweet and crunchy delights.

Furry UFO
Curiosity And The Cat
This big cat decided that it was finally time to investigate the strange camera that had suddenly arrived in her neck of the woods. We love her curious but wary expression as she cautiously regards this alien object. Well done, you are now world-famous, as thousands of people around the world are going to see your viral shot! We prefer to see cats like this behind our screens, rather than face-to-face. He doesn’t look that scary, but this hunter could easily ruin your day!

Curiosity And The Cat
Thorny Personalities
We can learn a lot about animals in their natural and uninterrupted habitat thanks to trail cams. Who would have known that porcupines squabble so much? We do not know what caused this lover’s spat, but like many human couples, these porcupines decided that they needed this confrontation to be the center of attention. They seem to be raucously screeching in each other’s faces. You can imagine that a porcupine tussle is a very painful and spikey affair.

Thorny Personalities
DeerHub
Here we have another incredible parallel between humans and animals. It seems that deer also enjoy being filmed while they ‘do the nasty’. We cannot help but feel like this raunchy couple knew exactly what they were doing when they decided that it was procreation time in front of the camera. They really could have picked a more romantic and comfortable setting, though, given how many thorny branches are all around. Not that deer seem to mind that kind of thing when it comes to nature’s calling.

DeerHub
Let Me Clean That For You
Have you ever seen anything so adorable? This deer decided to use all its senses to establish just what this trail camera was, and it seems that licking was the best way to do just that. Or, maybe it saw that the lens had a bit of dirt on it, and wanted to give it a good clean. We hope that this doe had her curiosity satisfied. We really hope that she did not develop an appetite for cameras from this point onwards.

Let Me Clean That For You
Head-To-Head
The raccoons had worked hard at this deception. They had been telling each deer all manner of terrible lies about each other in the hope that they would eventually come to blows. Now that the deer have finally fallen to the raccoons’ tricks, and have begun their enraged fight to the death, all the raccoons need to do now is watch as their evil genius unfolds. One raccoon even climbed the ladder to get a better view of the brawl!

Head To Head
The Bloody Victor
This deer might have suffered some painful-looking injuries, but it seems like he came out the victor of this brutal fight as the coyote seems on the verge of making a dash for it. We do not think that this deer is going to let this one go, however, and will probably chase after the loser to make sure that he never tries his luck again! With antlers that big and strong, you can bet that this coyote is about to be tossed like a salad.

The Bloody Victor
Midnight Ritual
We finally have our first human appearance on this list, but it is nothing like what you would have expected. This is a sincerely bizarre and worrying picture of what seems to be a little girl lost in the woods, surrounded by deer. She could also have gone on a highly irresponsible nighttime stroll with her parents. We have to commend this kid’s bravery, as you would not find us anywhere near this place at night!

Midnight Ritual
Circus Act
Trail cams are a goldmine for bizarre nature shots. Capturing animal behavior free of the element leads to all manner of strange insights into the life of forest creatures. This deer must have caught a bit of the last Victoria’s Secret fashion show, as she seems to be practicing her best runway walk. Her posture is pin-straight, her derriere is popping out, and her expression is fierce. We are sure that Roy Raymond, the late founder of Victoria’s Secret, would be incredibly impressed.

Circus Act
Selfie Queen
How many cringe-worthy selfies have you seen of people sticking their tongues out? This deer hopped on that trend by showing us all that she can do it just as well as any influencer. We love her goofy expression and hanging tongue. The forest does not seem like the most entertaining of places, so you need to find your entertainment in the most unlikely of places. This is one of the sweeter and funnier trail cam snaps that we have seen.

Selfie Queen
Howl At The Moon
No one really knows why coyotes howl at the moon, but the sound is disturbingly creepy. We would rather not live in a place where you can hear this spooky howling every night. This trail cam captured a pack doing their mystical nightly ritual perfectly. Can you see the scary set of glowing eyes in the background? Nature can be incredibly horrifying, and trail cams are excellent for getting a deeper look into its more obscure side.

Howl At The Moon
Competing For Comfort
A forest does not have many comfortable spots for animals to sleep in, at least not as luxurious as this hammock. A wild cat claimed this piece of furniture, which the surrounding deer seem very jealous of. We don’t think that they will be challenging this lynx any time soon, as she seems calmly protective of her spot. All that they can do is warily watch and hopefully wait for the buck to come along.

Competing For Comfort
You Raise Me Up
Bears adore climbing into trash cans and other kinds of containers. This mama bear is showing her cub, who is still too tiny to jump into such containers, a taste of her future adventures. We love how this mama lifted her baby up for a better view, just how human parents would do so for their children. We hope that there were some tasty snacks inside this drum. Animal families are not so different from human ones, after all!

You Raise Me Up
Up Close And Personal
This is a rare intimate view of a wolf that most people would not enjoy in person. You can be sure that you would probably get a good view of this wolf’s teeth if you were actually there! Trail cams must seem so weird to passing animals, who often cannot help but close in for a better look. We get an incredible close-up shot, and they have their curiosity satisfied. If only this wolf knew how many people would end up appreciating his beautiful eyes and lovely dark fur.

Up Close And Personal
Don’t Mind Me!
Bears adore salmon, that is no secret. They will happily wade into dangerously rushing rivers to snap at the leaping fish desperate to get to their breeding grounds upstream. This mama bear seems to have walked a great length to bring back a fishy lunch for her cubs. Just how we waited for our moms to come back from the grocery store when we were kids! We don’t know how she resists munching this fresh catch-all for herself.

Dont Mind Me
Pile On
Things often get incredibly frisky when deer are in heat, and you can bet that some of the more eager bucks won’t have the patience or decency to take turns. We would rather not get into some comparisons to the human world, as that would become incredibly inappropriate. This trail cam caught an incredible tower of deer that might have some very interesting results in the future. These future parents might struggle to identify who the father is.

Pile On
Furry Fury
Looking at this explosive standoff, you might think that the cat has the upper hand, given how confidently she is standing over the cowering coyote. The funny thing about nature is that you can never be sure how a fight is going to pan out. Coyotes are more confident in packs, however, while cats can hold their own happily all by themselves. We really need to start taking bets for these kinds of wild matches!

Furry Fury
The Wild Bash
What seems to be a heavily inebriated gentleman has stumbled upon a deer, and his jolliness has rubbed off on the doe as she also seems to be trying to raise the roof! He might not be as confident once the booze wears off, however, and he realized that he is lots in the middle of a forest in the dead of night. At least that coat seems incredibly warm, and he might be able to find a comfortable log to sleep against until sunrise.

The Wild Bash
Close Encounters Of The Furry Kind
Domesticated dogs are incredibly sociable animals and will take any chance that they get to make new friends. This buck seems mildly concerned with this cheery pooch’s presence, and we do not think that he has warmed up to the dog’s enthusiasm yet. We are sure that they soon became good friends, however. Who knows, they might have ended up going on all kinds of adventures together. His eyes are glowing fiercely, however, like lasers are about to shoot out of them!

Close Encounters Of The Furry Kind
Nighttime Nibbles
Otters are scrappy little fellows that love to feed on fish almost as much as they enjoy having their picture taken. This cutie had dinner and a show, as he tried to figure out what he was looking at between mouthfuls of crunchy fishtail. Maybe animal ‘mukbangs’ could soon take off! There would certainly be plenty of ASMR goodness to get out of their crunching sounds and the ambiance of the forest. We’ll contact this otter’s agent.

Nighttime Nibbles
The Stunning Display
While fireworks can be horribly terrifying for animals, leading to all manner of ethical concerns over whether they should be allowed or not, this deer seems entranced by the magical display. We cannot imagine how phenomenal fireworks must look to an animal that is used to the pitch dark of a quiet forest. This deer might still be hoping that another fireworks show is on its way soon. We hope that the other animals enjoyed the display just as much as this buck did!

The Stunning Display
Hunted
This trail cam managed to capture a truly intense moment in nature: predator versus prey! We previously spoke of how vicious and capable mountain lions are as hunters. They are also incredibly fast, and as speedy as deer are, you can see that this big cat is about to close the gap between them. Just look at how muscular this mountain lion’s limbs are! These powerful legs can keep pumping for long periods without losing much velocity.

Hunted
The Bystander Effect
Deer are not known for their inquisitiveness, preferring to dash off at the first sign of danger, but this rather anxious-looking bystander managed to get the show of a lifetime when she decided to stop in her tracks. Watching the full ferocity of an eagle is a rare sight indeed, and we cannot blame the deer for being stunned by the display. We also cannot help but feel sorry for the squirrel being agonizingly turned into dinner.

The Bystander Effect
Dinner Is Served
If you want to learn more about nature, you need to have a strong stomach, and put aside some of your human understanding of what is right and wrong. It might seem infinitely cruel that animals need to suffer so intensely all the time, but this is how nature works. We all need to eat, and not all of us have the privilege of going vegan. Regardless, this coyote seems incredibly pleased with itself and is in for a delicious meal.

Dinner Is Served
Caught In The Act
This deer seems to have been caught in the middle of some mischief, as he seems to have suddenly realized that something was watching. Those shining eyes that cameras get out of animals make everything seem rather supernatural, even an otherwise peaceful scene of a deer going about its business. You might have noticed that many of these pictures show deer out and about at night? This is due to the safety and stealth that they get from the cover of night.

Caught In The Act
The Blair Witch Project
We enjoyed a good chuckle out of this shot. Somehow, this little deer popped out of nowhere and scared itself when it bumped face-first into the trail cam. We cannot help but be reminded of The Blair Witch Project horror film when we see stuff like this! We hope that this startling fawn gathered itself and carried on with some dignity quickly. Its wide eyes and open mouth are hilariously shocking. We love the funnier moments like these that trail cams capture.

The Blair Witch Project
Twerking
Is it just our twisted sense of humor, or does it look like this bear is twerking? She seems to have realized that she was being recorded, and decided to drop it down low. After looking closely, we realized that this bear was actually halfway through doing her business when she realized that someone else was watching. She does look quite embarrassed if bears can even feel that way when their modesty is infringed upon.

Twerking
What Is It?
If you thought that this was an anteater, guess again! This is a tapir, an adorable herbivore with a tiny prehensile nose trunk. They look quite close to pigs, and are native to Southeast Asia and Central America. This fellow might seem rather alien in this frame, but they are actually incredibly cute creatures. Given the bamboo in the background, we can only assume that this shot was taken somewhere in Southeast Asia. Wait until you hear the squeaking sound that they make!

What Is It
He Hates Posers
Do not worry, no real animals were hurt in this shot, and the pig impaled on this buck’s antlers is completely fake. We cannot blame it for destroying it though, as it probably seemed incredibly convincing to the deer. Sadly, he now has a sizeable plastic model stuck to his antlers, and he seems to be struggling to remove it. Hopefully one of his pals will help him to rip it off, or he will be trapped with this bizarre accessory for some time.

He Hates Posers
Ambiguous Moose
There is no doubt that what we are looking at here is a moose, but if seen from a distance, someone might easily confuse it for a cow. This could easily turn into a huge mistake, as moose can be quite aggressive if these solitary animals have their territory invaded. Like cows, moose are herbivores, and despite being hotly defensive, would rarely ever kill an animal for food. This is a mighty-looking beast that has a long and powerful life ahead.

Ambiguous Moose
