It can be quite routine to see passengers rolling their eyes or talking back when they get asked any questions by officials before boarding. Many travellers are forced to get rid of some items before they get onto the plane, particularly liquids, like toothpaste and an open bottle of water.

Ivelisse and Rico kept a close watch as the man in front of them in the line got more and more agitated. He clearly didn’t want to give the item up, and he was trying to compromise with the agents by asking what he could do to keep his parcel. All efforts seemed to be in vain, however, as security could not be compromised, and an exception could not be made for him. The man had to throw the parcel away, but the couple knew they should do something about it.
