There is no questioning Stephen Chow’s martial arts skills, even though his acrobatic performances in films like Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle may have been augmented with CGI. He was influenced by Bruce Lee as a youngster and started practicing Wing Chun as a result. And for that, we are quite grateful.

Sonny Chiba
raised the bar in terms of violence after Bruce Lee’s time. He had a nasty, showy fighting style to fit his scary wolf-like appearance, viciously decimating opponents while maintaining a thundering sneer on his bushy-browed face. Clarence appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s 1993 film True Romance as a Chiba nerd, and in 2003’s Kill Bill Vol. 1 as the sword maker turned sushi restaurant owner.
