Lydia was shocked to learn how few material possessions her mother had survived on. The home that they lived in was not owned by them, it was merely rented. Sara also had very little in the way of savings, a far lower sum that Lydia was shocked to learn of. Sara had simply handed over most of her earnings to her daughter in the hopes that it would help her thrive and find her own place. Then there were the medical bills, which had fleeced Sara further.

Thrift stores would claim the lion’s share of Sara’s leftover possessions, such as her clothing and furniture that had been left in the now largely empty home. Lydia found that she could not find a place for these things. There were some bits and bobs that the young woman would hang on to due to emotional reasons, however. But as the home began clearing up of clutter, that one thing that Lydia desperately wanted finally showed up. She was ecstatic!
