On a morning ramble around the nature surrounding his property, Christopher was taken aback when he discovered what looked like a hidden passageway in amongst some old felled trees. He knew he would not be able to sleep at night if he did not explore this mystery further. He also knew if he went down this tunnel, there would be no going back until he got to the bottom of the story.

One of the main reasons that Christopher Wanliss purchased this property was that he found himself enchanted by the 16 hectares of woodlands surrounding the home. He was approaching retirement and the thought of having so much space for himself and all that free time made up his mind to buy the property. He wasn’t to know that this would turn into an adventure in itself, as he was unaware of the other incredible treasure buried away on his new property.

The incredible landscape was simply stunning and really helped him make up his mind. From the start, he decided to make a routine of going on long walks through the woodlands that he now owned, and would take regular tours around his magical property to explore the breathtaking scenery. Even though harsh weather conditions had stripped away so much of nature, the untouched surroundings were enough to bring Christopher the inner peace he was after in life.

He enjoyed his new purchase and exploring the land in his spare time. Everything that nature had to offer was enough to enchant Christopher; from the sweet sounds of birds chirping to the tall trees and beautiful open skies. He was beginning to know the woodlands better, sometimes taking new routes, and other times trying out new trails. It was during one of these relaxing explorations that something unexpected caught his eye.

He had not noticed this on any of his previous walks. At first, it just seemed like a felled tree or some branches that had created a type of hole between the ground and twigs. He approached the area with caution, knowing that it was easy to assume there was ground here in the woodlands where in fact it was a load of twigs and leaves covering a hole; he was cautious this may be the case here and did not want to have any accidents.

He soon realized it was an opening of some sort. At first, Christopher was not sure if it had been made of an animal of some sort or if it was man-made. Whatever it was it made Christopher extremely curious and he simply could not ignore this nagging feeling to explore it further. He knew that he needed to inspect this further, but he also knew this might be a route he would have to see through to the end, no going back.

The tunnel was covered by mud and fallen leaves. But on closer examination, it was obvious that it had not been created by an animal, but by a human or humans! There was also no doubt that whoever had created this dark opening had abandoned it quite some time ago. Christopher’s findings were simply so intriguing that he could not walk away and he felt somewhat obliged to explore further, even though he was uncertain about what may be lurking within.

While for some, not knowing what was on the other side would be enough to steer them away, and even though Christoper was not usually the adventurous type to go exploring down dark tiny tunnels, and despite the authorities advising against it, this time he couldn’t let it go, his curiosity fueled his determination. The tunnel was simply too dark to peek in and discover what was inside. He would need to take things a step further to be certain about what this little opening actually was.

When Christopher purchased the home, it was not disclosed that there were any mines located on the property. He discovered them purely out of curiosity. He recalls saying: “When we bought the house, nobody ever told us about the fact that the estate had a lot of mines on it. We just sort of stumbled upon the gold mine one day and that was it. When I first saw it, I was so excited that I almost fell over myself. The only thing that I could think about was Indiana Jones and underground railroads.”

There’s no doubt that even before making the best discoveries, there is always a certain amount of conscious doubt. Christopher was uncertain as to whether or not he was making one of the worst decisions by exploring the mine. However, when he shone his flashlight into the entrance of the tunnel, he noted that the walls were covered in a moss-like substance. But this didn’t look like regular moss, they were enchantingly shiny walls.

He knew he couldn’t go it alone, it would be irresponsible as he had no idea what to expect from this enchanting tunnel. He called in some extra hands to help. When they all went down there next, they noticed that the walls were extremely damp. This was quite concerning as it would mean that the structural integrity of the mine may be compromised. None of them knew yet what to expect, and they could hear their footsteps echo down the tunnel as they continued on this risky adventure.

When he took a closer look at the walls of the mine he noticed that the walls were covered in a rather shiny substance. but what he had thought was a mossy shine, he know realized was something else altogether. The shiny stone was beyond intriguing. He couldn’t help but wonder if he was face to face with raw gold. It wasn’t long before something else caught his attention that would make him completely forget about the shiny walls.

Christopher and co noticed that the mine was exceptionally cold inside, despite the summer heat and the warm weather outside, and they found this quite odd. they also noticed that their footsteps were leaving notable indentations in the soil, which made them realize there must be a water source within the mine. It was also quite damp inside which confirmed his suspicions.

The team had to pack up for the day, but Christopher just wasn’t ready to end his adventure just yet. After saying goodbye to the others, and assuring them he wouldn’t go on for much longer by himself, he continued exploring down the mine. Soon he realized that even with his flashlight he was unable to see the end of the tunnel. How long could it possibly go on for?

Holding onto his flashlight, he continued down the tunnel. But things were about to get even stranger. Oddly enough, he began to hear echo noises coming from the other end of the tunnel! Could it be that there was someone else in the tunnel besides them? He needed to find out! He could hear the noises gradually becoming louder and louder. He thought he could make out the sound of metal and machinery at work far down the dark tiny tunnel.

After a short while, he realized he was definitely also hearing voices! They were muffled and faint, and he could not make out what they were saying exactly. Eventually, Christopher gathered the courgae and decided to shout out to ask who it was out there. He also felt sure that wherever they were, they were still on his property, so he felt he had to brave enough, and insist on an answer from the people in the strange tunnel on his property.

By this point, Christopher had been exploring for a while and was quite far down the tunnel, and his boots were treading through deep muddy earth. He saw that there was an old ventilation system that had been installed, although it seemed extremely old as it was falling apart in several places. There were eerie looking chains hanging from the low ceiling that were rusting and were largely covered in mold.

Christopher started to feel incredibly skeptical about his decision to explore further down the tunnel, and was even beginning to question his sanity! What was he thinking, going it alone in this strange place? Not knowing what or who he would meet with was starting to overwhelm his thoughts. However, he continued to follow the path of mud as his curiosity and determination to get to the bottom of the mystery continued to compel him despite his fears.

As he continued down the tunnel, Christopher suddenly noticed that he didn’t seem to need the flashlight further up as there was finally some light in the tunnel. But that felt strange in itself. He says that something odd happened in that moment; “The ambient temperature also seemed to suddenly drop all around me at this point, and I felt an even stronger negative presence ahead in the tunnel,” he recalled.

As he passed he recalled seeing dozens of chains swinging from the ceiling of the muddy cave. Understandably this made him feel extremely uncomfortable.

The realization was quite frightening and Christopher decided it was definitely time to head back home and demand answers from the realtor. Not only were there mines on his property but there were also people inside the mines!

Christopher demanded answers from the realtor and as he recalls: “When we went to ask about the place, we were finally told that the estate had actually been home to quite a lot of mining sites. A lot of mining was done in these hills at the turn of the century, and there are a lot of little mines that are scattered across the hills.” This made him feel only slightly at ease for a moment until he realized the true extent of the situation.

Christopher was in the kitchen while he was speaking on the phone to the realtor. Just as he had ended the call the lights began to flicker for a few minutes until the power went out completely. He began to panic considering the situation.

When he inspected the breaker, it seemed as though there was absolutely nothing at fault. However, he kept searching for the issue and trying things to pinpoint the issue. After some time, his fiddling around seemed to work and he was beyond relieved that nothing more serious was the culprit.

Christopher proceeded to show Mr. Rudall the entrance of the small mine tunnel. As they navigated their way through the overgrown woods, Christopher noted that the sky seemed extremely grey and realized it would storm soon.

He was determined to continue his surreal investigation regardless of the potential dangers. Then Christopher noticed something else that seemed even more strange; a brick enclosure that seemed to be used as a hideaway spot. Once again, his curiosity got the best of him and he decided to inspect the enclosure. There was something unthought of hiding inside the enclosure that would completely shock him to his core.

Inside the brick enclosure, Christopher found white scratch marks on the walls. Even though he was unable to make out the scribbles, as he approached the inscriptions he noticed that there were a total of four vertical lines scratched into the wall. To say the least, this discovery simply enhanced his need for answers to the ever-growing number of questions.

He felt that whatever it was in the mine making such spooky sounds had somehow followed him into his house. He considered that he could simply be grasping at straws for answers.

He thought perhaps his adrenalin rush may have spooked him, although, at that moment he heard whispered emerge from all around him. The whispers grew louder and he questioned his reality at that moment. Fear engulfed him as he sat in horror at what he was experiencing. The whispers stopped almost as soon as they had started and the weather around him grew icy and cold.

This knock came in threes and was slower and louder than it should be. He opened the door with uncertain caution as to what it may be on the other side. As he opened the door he realized that there was nothing visible, although he heard sounds coming from the kitchen. He made his way with even more caution to determine the source of the noise. He then learned that the strange whirl of sounds was emerging from his camera. How could his camera possible be making such strange sounds, especially because his camera was off?

He drove to the nearest cafe and ordered a warm coffee. Christopher then searched online for a phrenologist near him. He was quite shocked that there were two places nearby. This type of profession is usually unheard of and hard to come by, which made the search results quite questionable.

Upon arriving at the nearest listing, he felt immediate relief that perhaps a skilled professional would be able to help the situation. He knew he would not be able to get any sleep with the situation playing on his mind.

The melody sounded much like the sounds he heard in the mine, although, they were significantly more calming. Without any conversation or greeting, Christopher left and got back into his car. He drove towards his mother’s home and immediately put his property on the market for sale. The estate agents never heard back from him as his mother took over the process of selling the land. She did what she could to rid Christopher of the property and whatever it was that was hiding in the mine.

On December 25th, 2015, Jose Antonio Nievas awoke at sunrise. There was nothing out of place for the Argentinian as he was as excited as ever for Christmas. He decided he would start the day with a calming stroll through the woodlands on his ranch. The day seemed much like any other. However, he soon noticed a small opening near the stream and decided to take a closer look.

He realized that he would need to scrape away some mud from the opening to discover what it was. Once he realized he had found something a bit too bizarre, he decided to phone his wife to inform her of his discovery. He would need help to find out what exactly it was that he found.
