Courtney flagged down a waitress as she approached her seat and requested a takeout container. In a rush to get home, she intended to have dinner in the car. We should expect another tough day tomorrow as well.

The waitress, however, had an odd reaction to this. Upon hearing Courtney’s inquiry, she stopped what she was doing, scowled, looked about at an obscure location next to the single mother, and said, “No.” Then she just got up and left.

Harlynn began slamming her heels down on the table just then. Courtney sensed that something dreadful was going to occur. Her cheeks reddened with embarrassment as the other customers began to complain. She knew that everyone in the room was watching the show her daughter was putting on for them.

The waiter who had previously refused to accommodate Courtney reappeared out of nowhere. She had something on her person, but it wasn’t a bag.

However, as Courtney had departed, Niannai realized that she had been carrying something in the pocket of her apron.
