As the end of the trip was approaching, Adrienne was astounded by the fact that nearly six months of unpaid leave was coming to an end soon. She had a couple more weeks to go before returning to Germany, but she never expected to be contacted before she returned home. If anything, it would only happen if there was a big crisis at work. Adrienne was shocked that her peace had been shattered by what she deemed a petty and sexist call.

Adrienne’s boss made his intentions very clear in the call: she would have to come straight back to work or quit the force for good. He commanded her to stop with the photoshoots and change her flight details. In shock about what she was hearing, she took a minute to let the words sink in fully.
