From experience, David knew that brick fragmented when you try to break a wall down and the very act of removing the bricks can damage the hive and cause injury or death to the bees. The bees would also be greatly disturbed by breaking down the wall and would be angry as a result.

Working with brick when demolishing the wall could be problematic and David wondered if the outcome would be positive or not. Regardless, he was going to try.
Taking Down The Wall
After struggling to remove the first brick, David gasped when he saw how little space there was between the brick and the concrete. He worried that after he had managed to remove all the bricks, many of the bees would have died.
Taking Down The Wall
As he peered into the hole left by the removed brick he was amazed to note that he could see the whole hive and it looked intact and normal, if rather large. He was relieved and continued working with more confidence.
