Her spine was as stiff as a plank, she could hardly catch her breath, her heart was pounding as though she had just run a mile, and watching the stranger on the screen just wandering around in Lily’s room left her mind racing through a million thoughts. This is why Heather was hearing footsteps and thuds and other noises at night. There was a man in their house!
