Picture Perfect
When James Woods passed, his surviving sons and daughter began a renovation project to fix up the old place. They soon uncovered a painting done by the artist Norman Rockwell, which was hundreds of years old. They could not believe that such a priceless piece had just been left to rot and that their father had never once mentioned it. After some investigation, they learned that he had hidden this piece away after he and his wife divorced. He had given her a fake copy and kept the original! The sons and daughter then rushed to auction the painting, earning $15.4 million!
A gentleman in New York had a similar experience, except the Michelangelo painting that he had failed to recall for so many years sold for $300 million! What a thing to forget…
Forget Me Not
It is not always treasure or spooky mysteries that people find in their homes, as one pair of siblings would one day discover in their Nova Scotia home that they were renovating. In one particularly crumbled wall which they tore down, a stash of heartwarming love letters spilled out onto the floor. These were written sentimentalities shared between a soldier and his life partner. There were 31 love notes in total, written during the First World War. Of course, the siblings ensured that these letters were returned to the couple’s family.
