Despite the passage of a great number of years, the two people remained resolute in their intention to catch up. His mother brought out an old photo album that was full with images of herself, him, and his brothers, and she shared her memories with him. In the end, their lives were not all that dissimilar from one another.

Hearing about all of her son’s difficulties and struggles sent his mother to a state of extreme distress. She found solace in the idea that he was living a better life throughout the course of the years, but when she discovered that this was not the case, it caused her a great deal of pain.

She explained to KPIX-5, “I just get so sad when I think about the things I got to do with his brothers and with their children.” Everything that they have been through and everything that they have accomplished, in other words. The benefits that they’ve received throughout their lives. When he described the ways in which he had been treated poorly, I became overcompensated with sadness. The emotional trauma of never being accepted. At least they finally reunited.
