Unflattering Nickname

Other than academic issues, many fans may have been wondering where the nickname “Chumlee” actually comes from. Despite the seemingly innocent and adorable sounding name, there is unfortunately not such a delightful story behind it. Only fans of historical cartoons would know what Chumless is referring to, and if you do know, then it is quite an unflattering nickname. While most of us will have endearing nicknames, the kind that Chumlee was unfortunate enough to land with was not charming, to say the least.

Chumlee just so happens to be a walrus character from a cartoon that was aired during the ‘60s called Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales about a penguin called Tennessee Tuxedo and his friends, one of which was called Chumlee, the walrus. As you can see from the picture below, Chumlee wasn’t just sizeable, but also rather slow. With more knowledge of where the name originated from, the intentions now seem undeniably cruel. Although Russel seems to have taken it on with good humor.
