He caught a glimpse of a small fruit stall across the street through the window. The notion of a tasty slice of fruit for breakfast made his mouth swim. He gazed at the wads of cash within the wallet. “One piece of fruit can’t cost much… Maybe the man wouldn’t mind?” he said to himself.

Yet just before leaving the house, Malachi had a change of heart. No matter how hungry he was, using someone else’s money didn’t feel right. Perhaps the individuals at the booth would give him fruit gratis. It was at least worthwhile to ask. Malachi put the wallet away and proceeded to the counter.
