A former Dunkin’ Donuts employee posted a big secret on Reddit about the hot chocolate that everyone loves to order when it’s cold outside. Apparently, every cup of hot chocolate from Dunkin’ Donuts contains thickening agents, including Cellulose Gum and Xanthan Gum. If the drink was fresh and had only the ingredients it should have, it wouldn’t need thickening agents.

If you go into Jimmy John’s in the morning or early around lunchtime, you should be okay, but any later than that you’re likely not going to get fresh tea. The whole batch of tea is brewed at 5 o’clock in the morning by the manager who opens for the day and is generally never replaced throughout the day unless they run out.
