The Right Colors

Darker colors in home decor are fabulous for winter since they make a space feel so warm and cozy. In the summer, on the other hand, the opposite is true. Lighter colors will make your home feel breezy and cool, not to mention bigger. If you plan on repainting or even buying a new set of bed sheets, opt for light colors like white, sandy beige, pale blue, pebble gray and the like. If you want a more colorful palette you can use pastels in various shades!

Plants

As we all know, in the summer most plants come back to life thanks to the sunlight and warmth. To reflect that in your house, feel free to buy a few plants or flowers to help your space come to life. If you’re afraid you won’t be able to maintain real plants, go for faux! Either way, adding some greenery to your decor will make your home feel like a lovely summer breeze.

Pillows & Throws

Two of the most basic ways to change up the decor of a room are pillows and throw blankets. Keep in mind that these will also need to work with the color palette that you choose. Adding light pillows and throws will brighten up the room.

Curtains

If you really want to make your room feel as if there is a sea breeze blowing through it, switch up your curtains. Sheer white ones will work best for this purpose.

Baskets

Another small touch to make your space have a summery feel, incorporate a basket or two in the room. They’re great for storage and will add to decor more than you realize!

Artwork

This is an easy one – simply buy a few art prints or print them out yourself to switch up the feel of the room. You can paint an old frame white as well if you’re feeling up to it. This will definitely make the room summer ready.

Accessories

As with all decorating projects, the true finishing touches of a room are the accessories. This is another budget-friendly way to change the look of a room as well. To make a room look more summery, you can buy a few items to place on tables or dressers such as shells, starfish or anything that reminds you of the season!
