Luckily for EvilEnglish, a particularly experienced coin collector instructed him to keep the various currencies, as their antique status would still be highly valuable, despite their less than perfect condition. It was crucial that EvilEnglish should keep any old-time money he found, regardless of their damage.
To add to the antique expert’s advice, another user mentioned that, “Just so you know, anything from 1964 or older is 90% silver worth about 20 times the face value of the coin. $0.50 = $10, $0.25 = $5, $0.10 = $2.00 … not to mention those silver bars!! They’re worth about $22.10 per ounce.”

As one can imagine, EvilEnglish and the relatives who were close to the grandparents became emotional having discovered these valuable mementos. After paying the locksmith for his services, the relatives agreed to split the hoard fairly and auction any leftovers. So, what did EvilEnglish keep? A collection of coins which constantly remind him of the fantastical stories his grandmother would impart on him.
There was still the issue of the unclaimed bounty. Our latest update revealed that the family were torn between delivering the objects for auctioning and private sales with collectors. We can’t be sure what happened, as although a portion of the valuables were seen in auctions, the fate of the rest of the takings remains a mystery, and perhaps for the best…
Strangely, EvilEnglish would end up disappointing the large following he’d generated online by removing most of the posts which discussed the whole treasure hunt ordeal. He wouldn’t leave everyone hanging for too long, however, as he eventually lifted the NDA and explained himself.
